Title: Pulikkaachal (Tamarind Chutney) Categories: Indian Yield: 6 Servings An orange-sized tamarind -ball 1 tb Jaggery; powdered 1 ts Turmeric 12 Green chiles; chopped 4 Sprigs curry leaves; chopped 1 4" piece ginger; chopped Salt; to taste ---For Seasoning--- 1 ts Black mustard seeds 1 ts Black gram dal 3 Red chiles; broken 4 tb Oil Extract juice from tamarind. Heat oil and add mustard seeds, black gram dal and red chilies. When brown, add green chilies and curry leaves and fry for a couple of minutes. Now add tamarind juice, jaggery, turmeric, salt and ginger. Cook till mixture is thick.
