Title: Traditional Anise Biscotti

1 1/3 c Sugar
2 ts Baking powder
2 tb Butter; softened
2 tb (a 1 oz. bottle) anise
-extract
3 Eggs
2 1/4 c All purpose flour
1 Egg plus
1 ts Water; beaten together for
-an egg wash

Preheat oven to 325x. Combine the sugar, baking powder, margarine and eggs.
Blend in the bottle of extract. Add the eggs and the flour, one cup at a
time. Add a bit more if the dough is too moist to form into logs. Spoon
dough onto a greased cookie sheet and shape into two logs about 12 inches
long by 1-1/2 inches wide. Brush the logs with egg wash and bake for 20
minutes. Remove from the oven and cool briefly. Cut the logs diagonally
into slices 1 inch thick. Turn each biscotti on its side and bake for 15
minutes more at the same temperature.
