Title: Traditional White Soda Bread Categories: None Yield: 1 Servings 1 lb Flour 1/2 ts Salt 1 ts Bicarbonate of soda 1/2 pt Buttermilk (or milk soured -with a little lemon juice) (Taken from "Good Food from Ireland" by G.Campbell, Grafton editors) Preheat oven 220øC or 425øF. Mix flour, salt and soda. Stir in the buttermilk and mix to a soft dough. Turn on to a floured worktop and knead quickly and lightly. =46orm the dough into a flat, round cake about 2 in/5cm high and cut a deep cross in it. Put on to a floured baking tray and bake for 30-40 mn or until well risen and lightly browned. When cooked il will sound hollow when tapped on the base.
