Whole Wheat Walnut Biscuits
Title: Whole Wheat Walnut Biscuits Categories: Biscuits Yield: 1 Servings 2 c Whole wheat flour 2 c All-purpose flour 1 c Chopped walnuts 1/2 c Wheat germ 1 1/2 tb Baking powder 1 ts Baking soda 1/2 ts Salt 1 c Shortening 2 c Buttermilk 1/3 c Honey Recipe By : Southern Living Magazine Combine first 7 ingredients in a large bowl; cut in shortening with a pastry blender until crumbly. Add buttermilk and honey, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface; knead 3 or 4 times. Pat or roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness; cut with a 3-inch round cutter, and place on lightly greased baking sheets. Bake biscuits at 450° for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Yield: 2 dozen.
