Mock Lasagna
Title: Mock Lasagna Categories: None Yield: 1 Servings 1 1/2 lb Hamburger 1 md White onion 32 oz Spaghetti sauce 1/3 c Water 1/2 ts Salt 1 ts Basil 1 ts Oregano 1 ts Sugar 1/4 ts Ground black pepper 5 md Potatoes; peeled and sliced -thin 8 oz Shredded mozzarella cheese Like many others I have stashed and tried many more recipes than I have posted. This was my first foray into cooking on my own way back when I was 12 or 13. I found this recipe in one of my mom's magazines. I think it was "Women's Day" but am not sure. When I showed it to her she thought it would be awful, but since I was doing a lot of the cooking before she got home form work she let me try it. A little reward as it were. It became a family favorite that I, and my mother and grandmother, still make today. I serve it with a green salad and a crusty bread with garlic butter. Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. In large skillet, brown hamburger and cook onion until transparent. Add spaghetti sauce, water, salt, basil, oregano, sugar and pepper. In a 9x13 pan make alternate layers of sauce and potatoes, starting and ending with sauce. Cover pan tightly with aluminum foil. Bake for about an hour -- until potatoes are tender. Remove foil. Spread cheese on top. Bake another 10 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and lightly browned. Posted to TNT Recipes Digest by Bru |
