Title: Gertie Carlson's Bread And Butter Pickles Categories: None Yield: 1 servings 6 qt Sliced medium cucumbers 6 md Onions; sliced 1 c Pickling salt 1 1/2 qt Vinegar 1/2 c Mustard seed 6 c Sugar 1 tb Celery seed 1/4 Cayenne pepper; up to 1/3, -up to Combine cucumbers, onions, & salt, and let stand for three hours. Drain. Combine seasonings and vinegar, and bring to a boil. Add cucumbers & onions. Heat to simmering and pack hot. Be careful to avoid boiling, as that makes the pickles soft.
