Simple recipe: mix all the ingredients together and add to the ice cream machine. Proper recipe: boil the milk, cream, vanilla and sugar together. When boiled, pour carefully on to the yolks, mixing all the time. Return to the stove to thicken. Pass through a sieve, cool and mix together. Put into the ice cream machine.
